Account-data deletion

For Hopper. Last updated: .

You can request deletion of your Hopper identity/account and associated data controlled by Hopper without installing or opening the app. A local identity reset and a request relating to hosted data are separate operations.

Submit a request

  1. Email hopper-7827@gmail.com with the subject “Hopper account-data deletion”.
  2. Include your public profile key or public profile link, the data you want deleted, and an address where you can receive a reply.
  3. Do not include a private key, password, recovery phrase or private conversation. A public content report is not a deletion request.

Email is handled by the email provider and is not Hopper's encrypted messaging system. An email request does not authorize disclosure of your private keys or conversations.

Request handling and current limits

The inbox is a request channel, not an automated deletion service. Ownership verification, developer-controlled hosted-data deletion and completion evidence have not yet been validated end to end. No fixed response deadline, completion deadline or request-record retention period has been established. A verified fulfillment process is still required before account-deletion compliance can be claimed.

Data on your device

Hopper includes a local identity/app-data reset. It is intended to remove local identity and app data, but complete deletion across all stores and operating-system backups has not yet been verified. Resetting identity data can make that identity inaccessible. A remote request cannot recover a deleted private key.

Local reset is not account-wide hosted-data deletion. Uninstalling or resetting one device does not erase copies on another device, in a backup, on a relay or media server, or held by a recipient. Ordinary account deactivation or freezing must not be treated as completed deletion.

Public content and independent copies

Public profile, follow and content events can remain on independently operated Nostr relays and in other users' copies. Public media uploaded to Blossom servers, recipient-saved files, exports and nearby-shared content can remain outside Hopper's control. Event withdrawal or deletion requests do not guarantee global erasure or recall of messages already received.

These limits do not remove the obligation to delete account-associated data actually controlled by Hopper when a valid deletion request is fulfilled. This page does not invent a retention exemption or promise deletion that has not been verified.
